One of our Shedders was chatting with Kelly at Horse Drawn Okanagan about our wellness goals for men. Kelly and Adam were impressed with our efforts, and invited us with an offer to come out to Armstrong to meet their Clydesdales and experience a wagon ride.
It was a perfect fall morning when five of us arrived to meet Adam and Kelly as well as their imposing Clydesdale horses Doc and John. We quickly won the affection of these thirteen year olds with a few bags of apple treats and some close contact. They were very gentle and engaging.
We spent the better part of an hour just asking a LOT of questions about the horses and what it's like to own 10 Clydesdales, some ponies, a donkey, and a dog!
Adam and Kelly were very patient and interesting in telling us all about these wonderful animals and their journey.
They love it. Adam is a farrier by trade, so loving horses comes naturally. He also blacksmiths in his shop. Kelly is also putting a team of small cart ponies together as well.
Horse Drawn Okanagan offers their team in full dress outfit for special events like weddings and group rides. Adam and Kelly also go to team plowing events across western Canada with a VERY BIG semi truck and trailer.
We went for a nice wagon ride around their neighborhood with Doc being a bit more of a high stepping show off while John stayed more cool and collected.
It was a great Men's Shed Vernon outing, a chance to learn about Clydesdales, make new friends, and enjoy a beautiful fall morning.
We can hardly wait to host Adam and Kelly and make them some items from our shop.
